3M™ Petrifilm™ Rapid Coliform Count Plates
Fast, Accurate Coliform Enumeration
The 3M™ Petrifilm™ Rapid Coliform Count Plate is a sample-ready-culture medium system that contains Violet Red Bile (VRB) nutrients, a cold-water-solube gelling agent, a pH indicator to detect acid and a tetrazolium indicator that facilitates colony enumeration. The plates are designed to provide fast, accurate results in detecting coliform contamination which is particularly useful for the food and dairy industries.
Coliform colonies may begin to appear at 6 hours of incubation as discrete yellow zones indicating colony forming units. Presumptive coliforms may be recorded at 14 hours. Confirmed coliform will appear as red colonies with or wothout gas (depending on the method followed) after 8-24 hours of incubation.
