RAPID ENUMERATION OF YEAST AND MOULD

Compact Dry Yeast & Mould Rapid (Compact Dry YMR) is ready-to-use chromogenic dehydrated plate for the enumeration of yeast and mould in raw materials, foods and environmental surfaces.

Fungi (Yeast & Mould) are a large group of organisms that can live in a wide range of environments. As Fungi can grow in a braod range of pH & temperature ranges, this enables the organisms to cause food spoilage in a diverse range of food products.

Compact Dry YMR are incubated at 25-30°C for 48-72 hours, depending on the matrix being tested.

Colonies of Yeast & Mould when growing on the Compact Dry YMR plates show different colour reactions and are very easy to differentiate. The chromogenic substrate X-Phos initiates a blue colouration of nearly all yeast colonies. Mould form fluffy colonies with a characteristic colour. The Compact Dry YMR allows a very good 3-dimensional growth of Yeast & Mould.
